Private Eye Exam - £30

During your eye exam your Optometrist will check the health of your eyes. They will studt the anatomy of your eyes including you lids & lashes, the surface of your eyes and your blood vessels. They will use special lenses and instruments to look inside your eyes to check the health of the internal structure. The Optometrist will also check check the muscle balance of both your eyes when used together.

You will be asked questions about your family history, your lifestyle and your general health. It is important to ask these questions every time you visit, even if we hold previous records for you to establish if there have been any changes since you were last seen.

Your Optometrist will check your vision without glasses and then if required will establish any prescription you may need. This is a subjective test. Whilst the Optometrist can use the equpment to establish a baseline of the prescription you require, you will be asked to compare different lenses and asked which one you prefer.

• Field of vision screening is free of charge for all patient who are deemed to require this check, based on symptoms and family history.
• Interocular Pressure test. What was once a mildly uncomfortable “puff of air” test is now much gentler and is also included in a routine eye exam where required.
• Colour Deficiency Screening. This tents to only be performed once and is usually picked up in childhood.
• Fundus Photography. A photograph of the back of your retina (back of the eye) will be taken and recorded comparisons of any changes or abnormalities can be made on repeat visits.

Lenses

The type of lenses you need will depend on a number of factors including your prescription needs, your lifestyle, your frame choice and your personal preferences.

We can guide you through your entitlement to NHS funded vouchers, if you qualify.

Single Vision (Inc free)

This is the simplest form of corrective lens and comes included in the cost of all our frames. These can be either for longsighted or
short sigted prescriptions. 

You can add further options to you single vision lenses such as tints, protective coating or slim and light
lens materials tailored to you needs.

Bifocal Lenses (From £45)

Bifocals are the most traditional option for those who require both a distance and a near prescriptions in one pair of glasses, with most of the lens for distance vision and a segment for near vision, the distinction between the two is distinct & easy to see. 

The added options available are more limited and most people now

Varifocal Lenses (From £50)

These lenses not only have distance and near vision correction but also an intermediate range too, making them ideal for every day tasks for those who need this type of correction. They can be fitted to almost any frame type, including sunglasses, designer frames, even safety eyewear.

They can be tailored to suit more specific requirments too such as if you spend most of your time on computors, or if your job as a driver means you want ou want to priorotise distance vision.


If you are aprehensive about trying varifocals they come with a garuntee too, so if they don’t meet your needs, we will change them for somthing elses that does, free of charge!
